Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP) was founded in 1975 as a 100% volunteer organization to meet the immediate, emergency, and temporary needs of low-income, unemployed, elderly, and handicapped individuals and families. MCEAP helps these families in the areas of food, clothing, household items, and financial assistance where existing agencies cannot do so. Those seeking assistance need to call first (540) 382-6186 for the Administrative Office located at 400 W. Main Street.
Our Philosophy: We strive to assist county residents in maintaining their households and restoring their self sufficiency.

MCEAP’s Administrative Office and Food PantryThe MCEAP Administrative Office and Food Pantry are located across from the Thrift Store at: 400 W. Main St.Christiansburg, VA 24073 (540) 382-6186 Office Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 5:00pm Persons in need of immediate, temporary, or emergency assistance should call our office at (540) 382-6186 . An over the phone intake will be conducted and will inform what documentation is needed to support eligibility. Assistance can be provided in the areas of food, clothing, household items, and/or financial assistance. |
MCEAP Thrift Store & MoreThe MCEAP Thrift Store is located at The Thrift Store & More: 308 West Main Street Christiansburg, VA 24073 (540) 260-3173 Store Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 9:00am – 2pm The store is staffed 100% by volunteers with all money from sales going to help those in Montgomery County who are in emergency need. The store is open to the public, but those who qualify for emergency help by application at the MCEAP Administrative Office can get free basic clothing and housewares upon presentation of the voucher they are given. Vouchers have a two month expiration date.

MCEAP Home Store & MoreThe MCEAP Home Store & more is located at: 760 Roanoke St, Christiansburg, VA 24073 (540) 251-3156 Store Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 9:00am – 2pm MCEAP Home Store has everything you need to furnish your home, including pictures, lamps, floral arrangements and area rugs. Are you in need of a computer? Do you have a computer that needs repair? MCEAP tech George, can repair your home computer or laptop for a fee with a guarantee. |
MCEAP’s Clothing Shop in Blacksburg. This clothing shop is open in the Old Town Hall at 141 Jackson Street Blacksburg, VA 24060. Store Hours: Wednesday 10am -2pm As in Christiansburg, the store is staffed 100% by volunteers with all money from sales going to help those in Montgomery County who are in emergency need. The store is open to the public, but those who qualify for emergency help by application at the MCEAP Administrative Office can get free basic clothing upon presentation of the voucher they are given. Also Blacksburg residents may access services by calling the main office at, (540) 382-6186 to speak with a MCEAP representative. |
